About K.I.D.S. Children’s Home

K.I.D.S. Children’s Home provides services to orphaned or children of destitute families.

Some children come to this home after being abandoned or left at hospitals, when their parents die or when one or both parents are no longer able to support their children.

Some babies or young children are placed with other agencies or homes, some live at this home for many years, and others are adopted out (although currently, all international adoption has been temporarily suspended).

These children have very limited access to basic care, education, health care, and some of them suffer from emotional and physical problems. This orphanage tries to provide care, education, and psychological help but they rely on volunteers, donations, and professionals to assist them.

Volunteer

Number of Children: The number of children at the orphanage can vary at any given time. Currently they have 17 children living at the home.

Accommodation
Accommodation for a volunteer is a room with a large closet that can be locked.
Two single beds are available in the room for single occupancy or if two friends want to share.

Volunteer cost at placement:
5,000 Nepali rupees per week or 20,000 Nepali rupees per month
This includes accommodation at the children’s home and all meals at the home.
This is in addition to the donation fee which must be paid after you have been approved as a volunteer, and before you leave the country to go volunteer. The donation fee is a minimum donation of $100 CDN/USD.

Send a Care Package

You may also send a care package to the home. The most needed items are: Children’s clothing for both summer and winter months, shoes and boots, powdered milk and baby formula, baby and children’s vitamins, reading books for infants and children, educational books and items for babies and school aged children, musical instruments, sports equipment, as well as plush toys and dolls for comfort and play. Any items that would engage children would be greatly appreciated.

Help with Costs

The orphanage home has been experiencing some financial problems in the last few years as a result of irregular funding.

Currently, this orphanage requires sponsorship for ten children.

Each child requires assistance with the cost of:

School fees
Books
School supplies
A school uniform
Shoes
Lunch

Total cost per child is: $275
