School Vehicle Project – Completed Nov. 2015!
Org4Peace International Helpers initially raised 35% for a multi-purpose road vehicle which was purchased in July 2013 and delivered in Sept. 2013 to the Gaurishankar School in rural Nepal!
A School Vehicle
Many of our school children travel hours to get to school, often showing up late or not showing up at all. Some live in areas where no transportation service is available at all.
The vehicle has opened up the school to more children who have never had the ability to go to school, and picks up current students who had previously walked to school for hours.
The Goal & Sustainability
This vehicle is now used to shuttle children to and from school and to recreational events. It is also used to pick volunteers up from Kathmandu.
To help pay off the remainder of the cost and to generate funds for the school’s operating and improvement costs, this vehicle was also rented out on it’s off-school times and has been used in emergency situations to transport people to hospital.
As with most of the projects we support, the community and the school contributed part of the cost.
